Description
This session will improve the understanding and application of the multiple stroke scales in the assessment of the acute stroke patient by breaking down the various stroke scales and incorporating neuro assessment tools and tips to build a systematic approach to identifying the specific stroke syndrome, ruling out stroke mimics while using the most appropriate stroke scale for the clinical situation.

Learner Outcome(s): Upon completion of this course, the emergency room nurse will be able to understand the various stroke scales in the assessment of the suspected AIS patient, and how scoring of various neuro scales affects treatment of the AIS patient and eventual patient outcome.
