Description

Employees experiencing conflict or having behavioral concerns may require rescuing from the nurse leader. There are times where the employee needs to be managed instead of being rescued by the nurse leader. Each situation is different and there are subtle differences where rescuing or managing are experienced. Usually, employees who are rescued have experienced personal crisis and need additional support and guidance from another person. Employees who need to be managed by the nurse leader often may experience performance concerns, not following a procedure or conflict with another employee. The nurse leader needs to ensure using Just Culture in their daily practice. This course will provide the ED nurse leader with strategies to identify when it is appropriate to rescue versus manage staff, and interventions for both scenarios.
