Description

Patients present to the emergency department symptom or symptoms they are experiencing. Certain symptoms and assessment findings are indicative of an emergent situation occurring that requires immediate interventions. The nurse performing triage needs to be able to recognize what symptoms are part of high-risk patient situations and understand what questions to ask to determine the patient’s acuity.
