Pdf Summary
Florida Hospital Orlando recognized the importance of patient satisfaction in today's healthcare environment. With the shift towards a "pay-for-performance" model, hospitals are now reimbursed based on their scores in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. A study by the University of Pennsylvania found that the caregiver work environment was significantly related to all HCAHPS patient satisfaction measures. Florida Hospital Orlando decided to update their stretcher fleet in order to enhance patient satisfaction and increase caregiver safety and efficiency. They partnered with Stryker, a leader in patient handling equipment, and adopted Stryker's Prime Series Stretcher as the standard of care throughout the hospital. The Prime Series Stretcher includes patient-centric features such as Comfort Controls, which allow patients to adjust their own position without relying on the caregiver. In addition, advanced mobility features such as the Stryker Big Wheel and Zoom Motorized Drive System were implemented to safely and easily transport heavy patients. Over a two-year period, Florida Hospital Orlando saw a 10% increase in their HCAHPS scores for "Overall Satisfaction" and "Willingness to Recommend." This success demonstrates the importance of investing in patient-centric features to enhance the patient experience and ultimately improve HCAHPS scores.
